The person behind Quiet Guru

A lifelong practice
of coming back.

I grew up in an ordinary family and went on to work in the high-pressure world of IT sales. More than thirty years ago, a friend encouraged me to try meditation — a small decision that opened a door to a very different way of living.

More than thirty years of curiosity

An ordinary life. An unexpected journey.
A quieter way of living.

I grew up in a very ordinary family, went through college and university, and eventually found myself working in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of IT sales. From the outside, life was following a fairly familiar path. Inside, though, I was beginning to discover that there might be another way to experience it.

More than thirty years ago, on the advice of a friend, I took a short meditation course at the West London Buddhist Centre. It was a small decision, made without any great expectations, but it opened a door that has stayed open ever since.

In the years that followed, I lived and travelled extensively throughout Asia. I spent time in temples, monasteries and villages, meeting teachers from different spiritual traditions and learning from people whose lives offered a different perspective on what it means to be human. I was drawn to their wisdom, but also to the simplicity of many of their teachings: the importance of paying attention, being patient with ourselves, and learning to meet life as it is.

Over time, these experiences shaped my understanding of meditation and the mind. But they also taught me something important: you don't need to retreat from ordinary life to find a little more peace within it.

Like most people, I know that everyday life can be noisy. There are responsibilities to meet, thoughts that won't settle, plans that don't work out and moments when we feel pulled in a dozen different directions. Meditation hasn't made me immune to any of that. What it has offered me is a way to pause, to see things a little more clearly, and to find my way back when life feels overwhelming.

“The path is not a destination, but a daily return to what matters.”

That's why I created Quiet Guru.

I wanted to share the things I've learned over more than three decades in a way that feels accessible, practical and welcoming — without complicated language, unrealistic promises or the suggestion that we need to become someone else to find a little peace.

My first book, 100 Days to Peace, grew from that intention. It was written to make meditation approachable for anyone, whether you're completely new to the practice or simply looking for a gentler way to move through the world. Since then, my writing has continued to explore the mind, personal growth, conscious living and the small daily practices that can help us reconnect with what matters.

I don't see myself as someone who has reached the end of the journey. I'm still learning, still practising and still discovering new things along the way. I believe that some of the most meaningful changes don't arrive in dramatic moments, but through small, quiet shifts in how we see ourselves and experience our lives.

If you're curious about meditation, looking for a little more calm, or simply trying to find your own way through the busyness of modern life, you're very welcome here.

You don't need experience. You don't need to have everything figured out. You can begin exactly where you are.

Quiet Guru is an invitation to slow down, become a little more aware, and make room for what matters — one breath, one thought and one day at a time.

This isn't about becoming perfect. It's about coming back to yourself.

I'm glad you've found your way here.
